Key Points for Planners

  • Mozambique is a perfect combination with a South Africa program

Mozambique

Mozambique’s fantastic sub-tropical climate, pristine natural beauty, and abundant marine life are quickly making the country a firm favorite for group travel and incentives. A visit to Mozambique’s remote, private islands is a visit to a luxurious paradise. This is African island-style living at its best, where the hardest choice usually involves what to eat for dinner.

  • Quirimbas Archipelago Marine National Park
  • Maputo
  • Maputo Special Reserve
Many African countries are not known for their gourmet cuisine, but Mozambique is one of the exceptions—thanks to an ocean full of seafood; a plethora of tropical fruits; and 500 years of Portuguese influence. The capital city of Maputo is an Indian Ocean port with preserved Portuguese colonial architecture. Many turn-of-the-century buildings line the jacaranda-shaded baixa (old town) neighborhood. There are many opportunities for sightseeing and shopping here, along with a wide selection of hotels, restaurants and a lively cultural scene.
After exploring the capital, take your group out into the country to experience relaxation or active fun. Beach and forest horseback riding, boat and snorkeling trips, island picnics, game drives … Mozambique provides many opportunities for team-building and group travel. Or, head for the bush to see Mozambique’s wild creatures on a safari where you’ll be able to see big game like lions, cheetahs, elephants, leopards, and rhinos as well as antelopes, zebras, hyenas, and buffalo.
The country has two marine parks: Bazaruto Archipelago Marine National Park and Quirimbas Archipelago Marine National Park. Admire sea life, pristine coral reefs and scenic underwater beauty in the vast and unspoiled marine ecosystems that stretch along Mozambique’s extensive coastline. Snorkeling and diving will transform you and give you a veritable appreciation of the delicate marine life balance. Undersea life you may see here includes humpback whales, whale sharks, manta rays, and dolphins.
