Key Points for Planners

  • Nashville and Memphis, 2 great cities in one small state!

Tennessee

You’ll be hard-pressed to find a city more accommodating, authentic, and accessible than Nashville, where music is the thread that connects the soul of the city and the people who live there. Nashville is known the world over as “Music City.” With more than 180 recording studios, and some 5,000 working musicians, Nashville is a musician’s town. Music is everywhere—on stage in every bar, restaurant, and street corner in town.

Key Locations

  • Nashville
  • Memphis
  • Grand Ol’ Opry
  • Country Music
  • Hall of Fame
  • Beale Street
  • Graceland
The city favors its country roots—it’s the home of the Country Music Hall of Fame and the famous Grand Ol’ Opry, after all—but you’ll find all genres of music here, too. Considered the heart of Nashville’s entertainment industry, Music Row is like a living museum. Here you’ll find historical musical sites like RCA Studio B (where Elvis recorded), Columbia’s Quonset Hut, the first recording studio on Music Row, and Owen Bradley Park.
And Nashville is so much more than its music scene. In recent years, it’s established itself as a foodie paradise. And not just for its amazing BBQ, which is a religion of sorts for many locals. Nearby Memphis is considered the epicenter of Tennessee BBQ, but there’s plenty of ribs, chicken, and brisket to go around. And speaking of Memphis … home of Sun Studio, Beale Street, Stax Records,
as the undisputed home of the blues and birthplace of rock-n-roll, Memphis is a jewel unto itself. No trip is complete without a visit to Graceland estate, the former home of the King of Rock and Roll himself which now houses his gold records, awards, pink Cadillac, and the largest collection of bedazzled jumpsuits this side of the Abba Museum in Stockholm.
